Week7: Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. George Bernard Shawn
Every year we speak of something called a New Year’s Resolution. The question is how many of us stick to our new year’s resolution? I know I don’t and I come up with all kinds of resolutions. Such as I’m going to lose weight, eat better, save money, fix my attitude etc. All of which I have never stuck to. I mean it’s even been times where I have started but I just never finish. I even write out all the things that I’m no longer going to eat or a number of days I’ll spend in the gym for the new year but it still never works. I ask myself from time to time why can’t I ever just stick to the resolutions? Why is it so hard? It’s like you want to take that next step but suddenly you can’t. You try to have a little bit of faith in yourself but if you fail one time you seem to give up. When I think about it I realize it’s that 6 letter word that’s holding me back. It’s called CHANGE!!! Which is what this blog is all about Changing for the better and if you’re wondering why change is so hard this blog post is for you.
Change is one of the hardest things for human beings to do. As we grow and get older we get set in our ways and we forget that change can be a good thing. It could be beneficial to your life and you as an individual. We don’t realize but we need a change in our relationships, friendships, partnerships and dynamics of life. Change only happens when you can acknowledge that change is needed. Sometimes we need change in our walk, talk and a change in space. For example, we need to move to different cities, and towns so that we can encounter change for the better. The best way that we can achieve change is when we take the risk and aren’t fearful. When I think of change I think of two types which is change for YOURSELF and then change for PEOPLE. First thing first please don’t ever change your appearance, life, etc. just to make someone else happy. Changing for other people is a bad change in a sense because you are now stripping yourself of who you are just to please other people. When it comes to change for self if you avoid it and resist it; it will still enter your life it would just be harder to adapt to. For example, you keep telling yourself you need to lose weight so you won’t be unhealthy but then you pay a visit to your doctor just to find out you have high blood pressure which now means you must eat and live a healthier life. Not because you want to but because you must know so more than ever because high blood pressure is no joke. It’s no longer up for debate whether you should get healthy you must because your life is on the line. No one wants to be forced to do anything but in some situations, you must be forced to make a changed. Change is growth and who doesn’t want to grow in their life. Change is positive and who doesn’t want a life filled with positivity.
People usually avoid changes and prefer to stay in their comfort zone, but I am a true believer that once you get the courage and take the first step to change, your life will become much better, you’ll fell better and you’ll want to encourage other to be better. So, this post is to encourage others and even myself to change and come out of my comfort zone so that I can learn, engage and accept new things in life as well as opportunities. A lot of people will read and think about the changes they need to make but how many of you will make them? Please don’t get hung up over the changes but what you do once you make the changes. You should accept these changes and understand things change for a reason and usually, it’s for the better. It might scare you but don’t let it defeat you. Remember life is like a book and you get to write your own chapters because you wrote it you can make the changes. Always remember God will never take anything away from you without the intention of replacing it with something much better. which is one of the good things about god he will strip you of everything just to give you back 1o times more than you would have ever expected. By practicing things, changing habits you will notice your taking steps towards greatness and success. Changing yourself is one of the best rewarding processes you’ll ever experience. Change is hard don’t get me wrong but it gives you happiness, peace, and sanity. A happy life that you have full control of is something you should want to strive for.
Thanks for reading my post this time, feel free to leave comments or questions and I hope that you come back for my next post. #ArtOfA

Change is so difficult because it’s hard work! LOL. I want to start working out, but my motivation is at zero, so I decided to do small steps (pun intended), like intentionally walking up the stairs instead of taking the elevator, etc.

Change is hard! I know I need some hard set motivation in order to do so. I made it a goal to get in shape and I booked a fun, sexy photoshoot for the end of the month in order to motivate me! And so far I’ve lost 5lbs and have completely changed the way I eat! I also have a much better time in group workout classes as I like the motivation from other women in the class to keep going as well.
Best,
Rebecca

I’m such a slave to routine that I have to take baby steps to make any changes. However, once I make those first steps, it becomes routine for me.

To be honest, I definitely stay in my comfort zone way too much. Routine is a big deal to me. Change is necessary to grow, though. Insightful post.

Your completely right! When we refuse to adapt to change our vision becomes clouded and our success is stunted. Being able to change will be greater in the long run x

I am definitely not good with change. I tend to prefer that everything stay the same every day but then I get into a bit of a rut. Change is definitely hard but not always a bad thing!

I am not sure why people are so afraid of change. Sometimes change is not only necessary, but pretty awesome. I learned to welcome change and adjust rather quickly if needed. It helps to have a positive and open-minded outlook. Great topic. Blessings!

You’re so right .. change is hard. For me it’s far easier when I’ve reached the moment where I say “I’ve had it!” I’m no longer living like this.

An encouraging and inspiring reminder. I always forget that change is good because I get so invested in what’s already comfortable. This is great reminder.

I love this, change is so incredibly important. I agree with you that people don’t like to leave their comfort zones, but if you aren’t changing you aren’t growing. Great post!

I can definitely relate to this post as I have been going through an uncomfortable change. I left my job recently after having a baby and I am having a really hard time adjusting to this change when I should be absolutely loving it. Part of me wants to return back to my comfort zone but I know that change is a good thing and being uncomfortable is part of it. Looking forward to new things to come. Thanks for your encouraging post, it makes me reflect!

Change is the only constant. It is tough to change old habits. But sometimes change is the only way out of the quagmire we find ourselves in.

I love the idea of change and the quote too. I have a concept that I love. It says ” Life is a series of constant changes. Keep up or you will be left behind.”

Reminds me of what I posted on IG today. You are right, we tend to not like change because we love our comfort zones. The sooner we let go of our attachments to our comfort zones and even resistance itself, the happier we will be. Life is nothing but change … ever flowing. Great post. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with you. Change should be a constant in order for a person to grow and mature. But sometimes it’s so hard when it comes to yourself because you’re so comfortable with how things are.

Change is hard. I agree God will give us something better to replace what we are changing. God definitely speaks to me to get out of my comfort zone and to change. This is a very encouraging post about change.

I hear all the time about how people dont like change, especially in sales. Your points you make are spot on. Change should only improve your situation. Unfortunate that some have created such a mess in life, it seems impossible that it can be cleaned up. Great post.
